Cllr. Manji Kara, a retired Railway Engineer, has been an elected member of the Harrow Council since 2002, proudly representing the residents of Belmont Ward.
He moved to Harrow from Brent in 1985 with his wife and two boys. The boys, having attended local schools, acquired professional qualifications and are residents of Harrow, with their own families.
Since his election as a Councillor, Manji has served in numerous committees and panels, and on outside bodies. Currently he is a shadow cabinet member, responsible for Community and Culture. He is a trustee of AGE UK Harrow; showing his commitment for welfare and care for elderly. His love and passion for open green spaces resulted in his appointment to the Executive Management Committee of Bentley Priory Nature Reserve.
He is an active member of Gujarati community not only in Harrow but neighbouring Brent and Barnet. He is well known in other communities such as Iranian, Muslim, Iraqi and African.
He takes active interest in local as well as International Charities and supports them whenever called upon.
Manji, with his vast experience of the community and the needs of the community, would like to continue making a difference to the residents of Harrow.
